Program Overview:

In this presentation, the speaker updates knowledge regarding the expanding field of genetics and its relevance to patient care.

Objectives:  

  1. Incorporate genetic screening into obstetrical care.
  2. Appreciate how to clinically approach rare genetic conditions in the fetus.
  3. Increase awareness regarding the medical complexities associated with pregnancy in women with genetic disorders.

Knowledge Gap:
This lecture discusses increasing knowledge and complexities facing practicing physicians.


Speaker Bio:

“Deb” Krakow is an obstetrician/gynecologist/medical geneticist interested in how genetic disorders present in the prenatal and postnatal period.  Her laboratory works on determining the underlying genetic basis of these rare diseases and how they affect cellular biology, particularly in the skeleton.  Her clinical practice includes caring for individuals with genetic disorders in the prenatal and postnatal period.
