Knowledge Gap: 
The purpose of this activity is to educate healthcare providers with the most up-to-date information on Problem Management: Breastfeeding Mother.

Program Overview:
The purpose of this activity is to educate medical professionals on  Problem Management: Breastfeeding Mother.

 


Objectives:
  

  1. Review history and identify/locate the source of the problem in a breastfeeding mother.
  2. List three (3) important counseling points to discuss with new breastfeeding mothers.
  3. Describe medical management of engorgement, plugged ducts, and mastitis.

 

Speaker Bio:

Misty is new faculty within the Division of Neonatology at UAMS and ACH following completing a fellowship in Neonatology here at UAMS/ACH.  She went to medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX and also did her residency in Pediatrics there at Dallas Children’s Medical Center.  Misty is guiding UAMS toward becoming a Baby Friendly Hospital to support and encourage breastfeeding in Arkansas’ mothers and babies.
