Objectives - Explain the history and incidence of bowel and mesenteric injuries due to blunt trauma and establish the importance of accurate and timely diagnosis.
- Define the pathophysiology and mechanisms of injury that cause blunt bowel and mesenteric injury.
- Apply CT findings related to these injuries and discuss how CT findings can guide treatment plan.
- Define surgical management of small bowel and mesenteric injuries

Biographical Info Mary Katherine (Katie) Kimbrough, M.D., is a physician and Assistant Professor in the Division of Trauma and Critical Care Surgery at UAMS Medical Center. Dr. Kimbrough her bachelor’s degree at Louisiana Tech University, Ruston Louisiana and her medical degree and residency at Louisiana State University Medical School, Shreveport. Dr. Kimbrough completed a trauma/surgical critical care fellowship at Louisiana State University, New Orleans. Dr. Kimbrough is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Card Surgery. She is also an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Certified Instructor. | References -
